Who We Are

The European Initiative for Gender Inclusive Democracy (EIGID) is an independent, international organization committed to transforming democratic systems through gender equality.
We believe that democracy can only thrive when it includes everyone, not just in principle, but in practice. That means working hand-in-hand with institutions, communities, and individuals to make participation truly accessible and representative.

Why We Exist

We founded EIGID with a simple conviction:

Without inclusion, there is no democracy.

In a world where democratic values are increasingly threatened by polarization and exclusion, we place gender equality at the heart of civic life, as a tool, a right, and a lens through which public decisions must be made.

Our Approach

What sets EIGID apart is not just what we do, but how we do it:

• We work at all levels,  from rural communities to institutional boardrooms

• We design tools and trainings that are participatory, context-sensitive, and replicable

• We combine policy engagement with grassroots action, bridging global goals with local voices

• We believe in open collaboration, and we co-create with the people we serve
